November 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

I have just begun to work on alternatives for the November 2020 Paper Pumpkin.  I have to confess I did not need 15 gift card holders.  It doesn't look like many others did also as there are lots of wonderful projects out there that you can do a search for to see. My first project was to use the white scalloped tag shapes to make Mini TicTac treat holders to share at Bible study.

I started by purchasing a package of the cutest little TicTac boxes you have ever seen.  The come in four colors, white, blue, red and orange and each box hold 8 TicTacs.  On one side is a cute little dancing, smiling TicTac.  The are about 1" tall by 1/2" deep and 5/8" wide.  Just looking at them makes you smile!

I then took my Paper Pumpkin kit for November 2020 called Jolly Gingerbread and from the kit pulled the plain white scalloped edge tags.

These measure 2" wide by 3.5" tall.  I scored them at 5/8" from the bottom edge.  Stamped the front with the filigree stamp and sentiment from the kit with Cinnamon Cider and Calypso Coral ink and then added the cute little Candy Embellishements.
There are 60 of these pieces so more than enough to make my treat holders.
Since I was making so many I kept the design simple as you can see.  Below is the side view where you can see I tucked the little TicTac boxes into the holders.

After scoring the bottom edges of two pieces I glued the two flap onto each other, at this point one side is a stamped side and the other is plain white.  I also used liquid glue to glue the top together.  Only liquid glue will work any other adhesive will pull apart as there is tension on the boxes once you put the TicTac boxes inside.

Now, I have to confess.  There were only enough white scalloped tags in the kit to make7 of these cute little boxes.  I needed 25 to 30 so I took one of the white scalloped pieces, colored the edges black with a marker, scanned it and opened it into my Silhouette Cameo Studio software.  Once it was there I was able to trace the outer edge to create a cut file.  I then used the point editing tool and made the bottom edge flat, removing the scallops there and added a score mark at 5/8 from the bottom edge and then I was able to cut out as many as I needed.

This was a fun project.  I hope you enjoy it.  I look forward to sharing more alternative projects over the next week.

Meant To Be Simply Saturday

Today is Simply Saturday and the first of a three part series of posts that will feature the Meant To Be stamp set and the Stitched Be Mine dies.  Both are carried over from a previous catalog.

The next two blog posts and videos will also feature these products and each one is just a bit more elaborate than the the others.  Be sure to check them out as they come.  The best way to do that is to subscribe to my blog and my YouTube channel.
This card does have layers but with adhesive sheets and dies this card truly is a very simple card.

Welcome to my weekly Casing The Catalog video and blog.  Today I am featuring the Heartfelt Bundle found on page 75 of the 2020-21 annual catalog.  The catalog is a great place to get inspiration and in these videos I try to duplicate the cards that are seen in the catalog and hopefully give you some inspiration to try the same or use the basic idea to create your own color combinations or stamp design.
I made all three cards pictured on page 75.  This is an example of what is called "Stepping It Up" going from very simple to more elaborate.  From left to right stepping it up a little bit more on each one.
The first card is the simplest card.  Just some stamping, punching and one layer for the sentiment.

Card number two steps it up a bit with some designer series paper behind stamped and punched out hearts and a bit of ribbon is added to the sentiment piece.

Card number three, the most elaborate card adds a border to the designer series paper layer, embosses the hearts, changes the coloring on the sentiment and add some cut out flowers and some sequins for bling.

Here are the supplies used to make these cards.  You can shop my online store by simply clicking on one of the product images below.  And there are some tips and tricks on how to make the cards which you can view in my YouTube video
